Daniel Sander's work demonstrates a wide range of artistic expression and is not limited to a specific medium, focusing on cross-disciplinary visual works dominated by video and installation. He repeatedly attempts to dissolve the boundaries between the arts and disciplines in order to resist perceived hierarchies. By using and combining a variety of media, artistic and design techniques, he seeks to provide access to complex political dynamics and social upheavals. The work is preceded by in-depth scientific research and conception. Topics such as flight, displacement, social inequality and questions of representation are at the forefront. A central theme and recurring motif is the EU border regime as well as the mechanisms of demarcation of European societies from an alleged external Other.
